I'm looking to replace my laptop. A parallel port is becoming a rarity, is it feasible to use a PCMCIA parallel port card in the same way as the standard parallel port? Is there a performance issue? Data transfer is 2.7Mbps.

It should work without problems and similar performance.
An USB-Blaster is an obvious alternative (but not an USB-Parallel adapter plus Parallel port cable; _that_ would incur performance issues). Kolja
