Linux driver after upgrade issue

I recently upgraded my build environment from a 2.6.19 kernel to latest 2.6.30 (not just kernel, fresh download of latest uClinux). While everything compiles file, and dmesg even shows success in loading the drivers (all static compiled except one) it will not create the /dev/<name> files. I've been pouring over kernel changes from .19 to .30 and so far haven't found anything obvious. Anyone seen this or have an idea?

Thanks,

Dan
