We have applied the optimizations as suggested in the AN440 to an Arria II GX, but are still only seeing it use 100.5 Mbits/sec when sending data out to a workstation. To confirm that the system is set appropriately, we have benched the same workstation receiving 755 Mbits/sec from another workstation. The Arria II GX says that it is coming up in Speed = 1000.
I noticed several threads discussing the lower performance of the Cyclone III, but was wondering if someone knew what we should expect from the Arria II GX. I also tried enabling the tcp zero_copy in the bsp settings, and got no difference in network performance. Is there more needed to enable this enhancement beyond enabling the bsp setting?Link Copied

Bare in mind your bottleneck here is not the FPGA but the performance of the NIOS II processor. The FPGA is capable of performing faster than any workstation. But you'll never get a ~100MHz - ~150MHz NIOS processor to perform at that level.
