I'd expect that when Altera claims support for Win7, Win7 Pro will be the "low" bar. Home Premium is unlikely to ever be "officially" supported.

I'm running the complete tool suite on Windows 7 Ultimate with no issues.

Quartus 9.1 does not support windows 7! I've had to reinstall XP. The SOPC builder gave me random errors when building video bits. I even tried running all executables in 'XP' mode, but ran into a whole different set of problems.

the VIP errors in Vista/7 may be solved by right clicking Quartus and choosing Run as Admin.

the errata details that simulation model generation will fail as well as synthesis without running Quartus in Admin mode on Vista+.
