I'm guessing that this is bad.

Should I just try again or go back to Q11.0sp1 which has been stable for me?

Have you tried deleting the DB directory?

If that doesnt work I suggest raising a mysupport case with altera.

After deleting all intermediate files and re-compiling from scratch the compile completed. Sadly, with Q11.1 my TSE license (which is permanent) is be treated as expired and I am getting time-limited SOFs out of Q11.1.

There really is no end to this madness.

I have work to do. I will stick with Q11.0 and SOPC Builder.

Yes I learned too that Altera has a very special definition of "permanent" for the IP licenses... ;)

its a flexlm thing, not an altera thing, isn't it?

there are two dates associated with a license, maintenance and expiration

maintenance date means software version you can upgrade to, you usually pay an annual fee to keep this up to date

expiration date means the date the license will stop working at, regardless of the software version. often this can be set to permanent, but it may have an expiration date for an evaluation license, etc

Yes, maybe so. I don't have the experience yet to know what the implications are.

What I do know is that with Q11.0SP1 I can build a .SOF but Q11.0SP1 QSYS does not generate a correct expression of my SOPC and in Q11.1 QSYS seemingly is fixed but I cannot compile a non-timelimited .SOF.

Whatever the explanation, it is frustrating.

The problem is when a distributor sells you a TSE license as a one time expense, but then you realize that you need to renew it each year with the Quartus subscription if you want to use the latest FPGAs... But nevermind, it's not that expensive and I should have paid more attention to the license.

dcattley, if you want to have a non time limited .SOF you will have to renew your TSE license.
