I created a simple project using Quartus II v11.1. I then created a simple simulation file using Qsim and did the simulation. I got messages that simulation was successful and then it went to open Quartus II to view the simulation output file. I got an internal error saying:

I got the same error. Qsim only runs on V 10.1 or V11.0. Hopefully you still have one of those versions installed.
Fortunately I had V11.0 and V11.1 on another computer so I had to uninstall V11.1 first, then re-install qsim being careful that it gets installed in the V11.0 subdirectory or it wont get found. Everything runs fine on V11.0 now. I wrote to the university program to hope that they fix it and relist the availabilty to download the archive V9.1 which had the simulator built in.- Mark as New

Thanks for the reply. Yes I remember that Qsim used to work under v11.0. The problem is that in v11.0 there is a silly bug when you try to create a symbol from a schematic file it refuses and displays an error. The workaround was to convert this schematic to HDL then create the symbol from that HDL.
The good news is that Altera has just released v11.1 SP1 which solves the Qsim bug! SOLVED :)- Mark as New

Great, good to hear that you got it worked out. The word I hear is that Altera will be putting waveform editing (vwf) and simulation back into Quartus in the future.
FYI I have made several podcast tutorials on using Quartus at: http://www.youtube.com/user/billkleitz#g/c/7bdc4877ac756557- Mark as New

I think it may still have something to do with running version 11.1 I had to run version 11.0 to get it to work

Ok, I was hoping it had already been fixed. Where do I go on the Altera site to download 11.0? Most of the links I had were for 11.1sp1 only. I'm TAing a class starting after the new year and I'd like to make it as easy as possible for them, so if there's a easy link to the 11.0 download, that'd really help.
Thanks! Matt- Mark as New

yes version 11.0 is still available at the altera website under SUPPORT DOWNLOADS WEBEDITION FREE. Be sure to uninstall 11.1 and delete the subdirectory that was created for 11.1 first before installing QSIM.
