How to use both ARM and FPGA simultaneously? (DE1-SoC)

Hello everyone,

So my current project involves simple interfacing between the DE1-SoC's ARM HPS and the FPGA. Right now, I am using the Quartus II development environment, and download the FPGA portion using a .cdf file. For the C portion, I am using the Monitor Program to compile and load C code onto the board.

However, running both simultaneously does not appear to work. For instance, turning on an LED using the processor while the FPGA design has been loaded onto the board will not work.

How do I get around this issue and allow both of them to run simultaneously?
