I need to implement remote update via PCI Express on a Cyclone IV GX. The configuration device is a parallel flash which together with an external MAXII implements the FPP configuration mode (required to meet the 100 ms 'power-on to configured' PCIe Spec). I have found that I can use the PFL to 1) Program the flash initially via JTAG, 2) Configure the FPGA from parallel flash via MAXII but how can I program the parallel flash from the FPGA or MAX II? Is there an Altera IP available for interfacing with standard CFI flash memories? I'm not using NIOS.
Also, Since the Remote Update IP only supports AS or AP and since none of these methods work for my design (AS too slow, AP not supported by CyIVGx), is there any alternative IP to the RemoteUpdate? It looks like I have to roll my own.
