How to measure the speed for ethernet port 

 

for example, how can i confirm that it is using 1000M, 100M or 10M

From the fpga side, I mean the ethernet controller itself, you can read the PHY status register. 

From an external point of view you need to query the connected device: for example, a laptop with Windows OS will notify you the connection speed.
