Transceiver placement issue

Hi,

There is one block, four transceivers in an EP4CGX22 FPGA chip. If i need to use it to design two independent transceiver links, each one with 2 transceiver channel bonded, is it OK?

Thanks a lot.

You don't say which package. If it is the F169 version, that only has 2 transceivers. The F324 version has 4.

But even still, if you read page 1-37 of Volume 2 of the Cyclone IV handbook it says:

"When implementing ×2 bonded channel configuration in a transceiver block,

remaining channels 2 and 3 are available to implement other non-bonded channel

configuration."

So you can only have one bonded design, not two.

Besides the different clocking approaches what are other benefits or risks between using 2 non-bonded channel protocol and one bonded X2 channel protocol?

Appreciate your helps.
