It is worse to assign clock on different bank or on non-clock input pin?

Hi,

I need to get four RGMII interfaces on HSMC attachment board and I have found that only 3 clock inputs are on the same bank as data lines.

RGMII is only 125MHz so there is possibility that it could work on non-clock pin..

I have therefore two options:

1, Route clock on non-clock pins

2, Route clock on different bank but on clock input pin.

Which has better chance to success?

Thank you.

I would recommend using option# 2 which would have higher chance to pass Fitter compilation. You can create a simple test design and let it run through Quartus II compilation to see if there is any error or critical warning to further verify the implementation.

Yeap... option# 2 would sound more reasonable...

dedicated clock pin would mean you would have better access to the clock lines in the HSSI.
