Configuration Via Protocol

Hi All,

we are using stratix V family series FPGA.

we need to configure the FPGA using Configuration Via Protocol(CvP) using PCIe interface, and we need to use the PCIe Hard IP as Gen 3 x8 in user mode one of our application.

But the problem is configuration of FPGA by CvP supports only PCIe Gen 1 and it supports PCIe Gen 2 under altera support but it will not support PCIe Gen 3 .

for ex : for configuration of the FPGA by CvP we used PCIe Hard IP Gen 1 and after configuration we should use PCIe Hard IP as Gen 1 only.

is there any possibility we can configure the FPGA by CvP using PCIe Gen 1 and in user mode we can switch to PCIe Hard IP Gen 3 ??

Thanks and regards

Hi

Typically FPGA can support retraining to a lower Gen speed (usually called down training) but not retraining to a higher Gen speed. The hard IP does support changing gen speeds but not training up, for example Gen1->Gen3 is not allowed. Thus Gen1->Gen3 is not something supported with CvP either.
