Atom Rangeley processor C2000 series processor die temperature measurement reg

Hi,

We are using the C2338 atom core Rangeley processor. In the data sheet it is mentioned that way to find processor die temperature is through PECI I2C bus. THe I2C bus connected to the DTS(digital temperature sensor in the Rangeley SOC).

But in the Avoton Rangeley TTV UG,it is mentioned that it is also possible to measure die temperature using the standard four wire resistance measurement technique. When checked in the data sheet about this implementation details such as ball name,no mentioned is not reflected in the data sheet. We want to know whether this feature of 4 wire resistance measurement technique is applicable to the Rangeley processor? If so kindly advise the implementation tips.

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards,

S.Sathiya Seelan.

Hi! Thank you for providing the document number, Sathya. I noticed that this document in not included in the Rangeley documentation on the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/intelligent-systems/rangeley/atom-c2000-product-family-based-platforms-overview.html EDC so I will have the document added so other developers can more easily get to it. William will continue to help you through your question. Have a wonderful day. Lynn.

Hi Seelan,

Please review the sections 2.2.2 and 1.4; on pages 10 and 7 of the Avoton/Rangeley SoC Thermal Test Board User Guide (document number 511401) for all the information related to cited four-wire sensor.

Please keep in mind that the suggested method to determine the on-die temperature is the associated to the Digital Thermal Sensor (DTS). All the DTS information related to this is stated in section 3.3.9, on page 31 of the Intel(R) Atom(TM) Processor C2000 Product Family for Microserver Thermal and Mechanical Specifications and Design Guidelines (document number 508956)
