Possibilities of converting DP1.1a to HDMI2.0 on Intel atom processor

Hi

We are developing a product based on Intel Atom Processor and we want to convert DP1.1a to HDMI2.0, We came to know the possibilities of such a conversion after we came across this section given by intel.

From the figure above we can see that it shows DP1.1 can be converted to HDMI2.0. However the conundrum here is that, while Intel has mentioned that it is possible to convert DP1.1 to HDMI2.0, in the image given below they claim that the SOC DP port only supports the max. resolution up to 2560x1600@60Hz, how can it get the 3840x2160@60Hz(HDMI2.0 SPEC) output via a DP-to-HDMI converter chip. Because when we contacted a chip manufacturer for DP1.1 to HDMI2.0 Conversion IC even they were of the same opinion.

Can somebody please give more Insight on this. It will be really great.

Thanks.

Hello ambuj,

Thank you for contacting Intel Embedded Community.

In order to help you please address your questions to the https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/forms/intelligent-systems/get-help-external.html Embedded Design Assistance, where you be connected with a representative in your area, which could possibly help with your project. Because unfortunately the Atom x5 and x7 (formerly Cherry Trail), which are part of the Bay Trail -T family that is on the "off-roadmap" and its support is for limited manufacturers. For this reason, these processors are unsupported through this channel. Click on http://ark.intel.com/products/codename/46629/Cherry-Trail this link to learn more about the specifications of the cited Atom devices.

Best Regards,

Carlos A.
