Hello NewBee2016,

Thank you for contacting the Intel Embedded Community.

In order to better understanding your consultation, could you please tell us if it is related to a motherboard? Please give us all the information of this motherboard.

By the way, please refer to the forums https://communities.intel.com/thread/88430 Does XMP work with i7-6700? and https://communities.intel.com/thread/97226 Questions about memory controllers / maximum ba... as a reference that may help you.

Thanks for your collaboration to answer your question.

Best Regards,

Thank You for Responding!

I plan on building a desktop with a Intel (6700 i7 core) or (6700K i7 core) and an Asus Z-170-A mobo.

From the post you gave me it sounds like it causes problems if you buy RAM faster than the spec of the CPU of 2133.

This is a dual channel mobo would it be better to populate the mobo with two sticks of RAM 16Gb in one channel or four sticks of RAM 8Gb in two channels, as far as to help the CPU run better?

If i go with the 6700K it will come out of the box and run @ 4 GHz and turbo to 4.2 GHz with no bios or set up, and this would not be over clocked. But if i go with just the 6700 it runs @ 3.4 GHz and turbo to 4.0 GHz, is that correct ?
