Updating driver for Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset

Hi. Im trying to update to the most recent driver for my Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family video card and i am recieving an error to go to my manufacturers website, which is Gateway. I have visited their site and also attempted to download the most recent driver for my specific computer, ive even talked to tech support and the driver updates that they supply me with are not working. It gives me the same error message about having a customized driver and to get it from the manufacturer, which is Gateway.

Since neither the Intel's version or Gateways version will update my driver for the 945GM, im wondering if i can just uninstall my current driver and then install the most recent one from Intels site. I would have already tried this, but im concerned over whether or not im going to screw up my system. Any help or suggestions about what i need to do from here would be greatly appreciated.

Again, any help would be greatly appreciated, and as you can tell from just above, the driver is VERY out of date.

That's because some manufactors disable installation of drivers not approved by them.

You can force it to install:

First download the ZIP version from intel (not the EXE), and extract it to any folder.

go to "device manager" and then expand "display adapters", right click the grapic card and choose "update driver"

Choose "no, not this time"..... NEXT....

"install from a list or specific...." ....NEXT....

mark "don't search I will choose the driver to install"... NEXT....

Click on "have disk" and browse to the folder you have extracted the zip from intel, it will look for the *.inf file and install, probably will give you a warning just go ahead it should work.
