Intel HD Graphics Problem Warcraft III

Hi,

I just got a new computer for Christmas and I went to play a game of DotA on Warcraft III, however I experience a debilitating series of pauses during gameplay which ultimately makes the game unplayable. I used to play this game on an older laptop of mine and it ran just fine so I have to wonder if the Intel(R) HD Graphics display adapter is the cause of my problems.

I am currently running on Windows 7 Home Premium, though I have been running the game in Windows XP (Service Pack 3) compatablity. I also tried running the game with visual themes disabled and desktop composition disabled, but that hasn't helped any.

My computer has:

Intel Core i3 Processor at 2.40 GHz

4.00 GB RAM

Intel 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset

I don't really know what all I need to list for help, but please if anyone can help me I'd greatly appreciate it.
