Duplicate Intel My Wifi technology icon in windows 7 tray

Hi,

I installed the intel 14.3.1 wifi driver update from my OEM (Sony Vaio) for my laptop VPCSC1AFM which updated the wifi driver from 14.0 to 14.3. The driver itself is working fine. however, there are now 2 icons for the My Wifi technology in the windows 7 tray notifications area. Both of them show identical things. How do I go about removing the duplicate?

I already tried the regedit method (removing iconstreams described here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/13102-notification-area-icons-reset.html http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/13102-notification-area-icons-reset.html) and also tried CCleaner with advanced/tray cache delete enabled. But still they show up.

Note: my wifi works perfectly - i use it for intel widi all the time.

ok solved:)

for anyone else who may encounter something similar - download 'autoruns' and run it. goto the startup/login tab and disable 'intel 'PAN'. it seems the newer wifi driver has PAN inbuilt or something like that, so we dont need a separate intel pan entry in the startup programs.

this will keep one icon only as desired.
