Intel(R) 915GM/GMS, 910GML driver setup fails

I've downloaded the 14.25.50 driver (latest, both the .exe and .zip) for the 915GM/GMS, 910GML under Windows XP Home Edition. However, the setup but exclaims "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer's manufacturer.", closes and slams the door behind it like an angry teenager. I tried downloading an earlier version (14.24), but it has the same problem. The Device Manager displays my current driver as "6.14.10.4410" (can't figure the numerics of it out). I'm quite stumped as to any solutions to make it work, because i can't see any reason why it would not be "validated for this computer".

And the Driver Update Utility fails as well - it just displays "downloading" and does nothing further, the silly sod.
