ICH7-M SATA Hot swap (Non-RAID)

My company is currently using a single board computer with ICH7-M chipset.

We have installed all the drivers and set the BIOS for AHCI but seem to encounter problems when Hot swapping drives.

From what I have read of the manuals it appears Hot swap is linked to RAID functions.

Can you Hot swap non-RAID drives? as we don't get a drive in the "Safe to eject" hardware.
