Acer Aspire 5742 won't detect HDMI output to BUSH HD TV.

I have connected my Acer Aspire 5742 Laptop to my Bush 22" HD TV with the Intel HD Graphics HDMI output. The laptop doesn't detect the TV and the TV doesn't detect the Laptop.I know that both the HDMI lead, The HDMI input on the TV and the HDMI output on my laptop all work because i have tested the cable and INPUT with my xbox and it worked fine. I connected my laptop to my Sony 32" TV downstairs with the same HDMI cable and it connected instantly and I didn't have to touch a button.

I have tried pressing F5 to switch displays but i can only select the laptop screen. I have also gone to the screen resolution page in control panel and asked the laptop to search for an output (while still connected) but it says 'no output detected.'

This is really frustrating because it only seems to not work with the TV in my room.

Many thanks,

Hi Callum Howard,

I see the computer integrates an Intel HD Graphics first generation, have you tested the latest graphics drivers?

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+with+Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+with+Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics

Make sure your computer is under win7 because Windows* 8 driver are not available for HD Graphics, also test different HDMI cables.

Thanks

Allan
