Going to buy a pci-e mini card to connect my laptop with a 5100 card, and now stand before a choice: what are the differences between Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN and Intel® WiFi Link 5100AGN

go with the 5100 with the 4965 i was only able to get 144 mbps on N band with the 5100 i get between 270 and 300 mbps plus there are other features that the 5100 has that the 4965 doesn't

the only difference between the 5100 and 5300 series is both the 5300 and 6300 series have 3 ant hook ups instead of 2 so i guess if you had 4965 agn in it you would already have the 3 antennas

What's your OS? What do you use wireless link for?

i am using Windows 7 ultimate and i use mine for "play it now " feature in windows media player 12 which lets you stream media from one computer to another as well as file transfers from server to one of the other computers and i have 3 intel lan cards in my server which are teamed to give me a 300 mbps connection untill i get a gigbit adapter

On my laptop - fedora 12 x64, on my media tank(ZOTAC IONITX-BE) - latest ubuntu.

Wireless link is needed to share large files between laptop and media tank.
