I had a computer with E6600 processor vista 32 bit, working duel core with two threads, when running a calculating program it utilized 100% of one core (and one thread) thus the CPU in total was using 50% of it's capacity.
I now upgraded to i5 650, windows 7 64 bit, which has a duel core and FOUR threads, due to this during calculations the CPU now utilizes only one thread at 100%, so that the total CPU usege is only 25%.
The end result is that since the calculating software seems to mainly be using only one thread, the new computer does the calculation in more time then the old one.
Is there any way to have the CPU use at least one complete core (two threads) and thus work on 50% of it's capacity?
