Temporarily disable software / Compatibility with Windows XP Zero Configuration?

I have a wireless 3945abg board in my laptop. Trying to connect a N modem from Linksys/Cisco via a USB port. The software wants windows zero configuration to be operating. Other than uninstalling the pro wireless software -- is there a way to disable the software or is it compatible with the windows zero configuration manager?
