Hello,
I've got a big problem with my INTEL WiFi Link 5100 AGN. It is used by an ACER Aspire 7738G.
Everytime I login to one specific WLAN I get a Bluescreen after a while (between 5 minutes and 5 hours). I need to use that network up to five times a week for about 8 hours.
I get the BSOD when I am using Windows7 Ultimate 64. I have a Ubuntu installed in another partition. It freezes randomly when I use that specific WLAN and only a reboot helps me. Many other people (about 300) can use that network without any problems. So I think there is something wrong with the WLAN controller.
But when I login to other networks the system works very well without problems!
The crash-causing network is the only one that uses a proxy server. Is this relevant?
Is there a trick I can use to get it work? It worked until the end of 2009. It seems to be a year 2010 problem.
I tried this to solve the problem without success:
1. Turning off 802.11n-Mode
2. Installing the latest driver (13.0.0.107)
3. Turning off energy mode
Here are some messages I got after reboots caused by BSOD:

Please help me.
Best regards
Zablus
EDIT: &# 13; There is a new info: Ubuntu freezes without using WLAN too! I think this is an ordinary software bug&# 13; So there is juist a problem with that cnetwork controller while using Windows.&# 13; I'm sorry for the wrong information about involving Ubuntu.

Hi there,
I just wanted to confirm that I got the same BSOD on a fresh install of Windows 7 64 Bits.
Driver: 13.0.0.107
BSOD error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL refering to NETw5s64.sys
Message for Intel: please update your driver or request us more information. I have the dump file and if I can send it to you if you want.
please let us know
Regards,
Didier

I'm having the same exact issue for the last couple of weeks or so. I have almost 20+ dumps available, which can be sent to Intel. Does Intel acknowledge this issue? When it's expected to be resolved?

I had the same issue with my Acer Aspire 5738G laptop. It comes with an Intel WiFi 5100 AGN card on board and the problem started after I upgraded to the driver that Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits was offering via Windows Update. I tried first to reinstall the OS, but again I've installed the latest driver from Microsoft and the issue was still reproducing. At that moment I started to think that probbably mu laptop has a hardware problem. But I looked onto Acer site in the Drivers section and downloaded the driver that they recommended (Wireless LAN_Intel_12.4.1.11_W7x64W7x86_A). Installed this driver over the existing one, restarted the system and from that moment I never saw the BSOD again. I copied a few big files (1080p movies) from the laptop to my desktop and everything is working as expected, without problems. And another benefit of this driver is that the wi-fi speed is enhanced... it transfers files with ~10MB constantly (with the standard Win7 driver the speed was something like 5MB in average). Make sure to set the "Throughput Enhancement" to "Enabled" on the Advanced section of your Intel WiFi Link 5100AGN Properties window from Device Manager.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your help! I will test that driver.
I have got the BSOD problem in only one specific WLAN and I won't be in the area of it until middle of April. So I can't tell if your suggestion solved my problem in the next days.
I will post the result of using that driver here.

I uploaded the driver I used. It can be found http://rapidshare.com/files/350583201/Wireless_LAN_Intel_12.4.1.11_W7x64W7x86_A.zip.html here.

@roccatgaming
I tested that driver but it caused randomly system freezings. It think it doesn't work because the driver hasn't been built for an ACER Aspire 7738G.
@Ilenek
Thank you. I will have a look on that thread and hope there will be a driver update next weeks.

look for driver 13.1.x.x. Look for it at Intel support website or request it directly from them.

The newest driver doesn't solve my problem.
I hope there will be another update.
I think I get the BSODs only in weak power WLANs. Is this a helpfull reason for you?

Yeah, it is still unstable, even if a bit less. it BSOD rebooted while I was asleep at night, left copying some files in network. I can't believe Intel isn't able to solve the problem with their product in more than years time, that's a huge shame
