Computer: Lenovo Thinkedge 7075B5G

Operating system: Windows 7 Professional (64-bit), Service Pack 1

Processor: Intel Core i5-2400S CPU @ 2.50GHz

I have not used WiFi for a while as I am normally connected with LAN. However, I know the WiFi used to work fine less than half a year ago. However, now I have a problem that the computer does not detect the wireless network adapter. On the right hand side of the taskbar, the Intel My Wifi Technology icon has a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. Hovering the mouse pointer on top of the icon opens a text box " Intel My Wifi Technology: Adapter not found". Clicking this logo results in following pulldown menu:

Open Intel My Wifi Utility (black - available)

WiFi On (grey - not available)

WiFi Off (grey - not available)

Add New Device (grey - not available)

Share My Internet (grey - not available)

Enable Intel My WiFi Technology (grey - not available)

Disable Intel My WiFi Technology (marked with a bullet, grey - not available)

Opening Intel My Wifi Utility (the only available option) results in following window:

"Network Adapter Not Found. A supported Intel wireless network adapter was not found in this computer. No supported Intel wireless network adapter was found"

WiFi Manual Diagnostics tool:

TEST Name: Hadware test

Test Result: Failed.

Test Summary: Driver version does not support Intel PROset/Wireless WiFi software version 14.0.2.0.

In Control Panel - Device Manager - Network adapters the only adapter listed is "Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection". Right click Network adapters to scan for hardware changes does not change anything.

Intel Wireless WiFi Link Driver has been installed from Lenovo support site (download file named w2wlg01us17.exe). After installation, in (C:) – SWTOOLS– DRIVERS– WLAN- w2wlg01us17-Win7-S64-Drivers, there are two driver files: NETwLv64.sys (version 13.4.0.139) and NETwNs64.sys (version 14.0.2.2)

In (C:) – Windows – System32 – drivers, there is only NETwNs64.sys (version 14.0.2.2)

In the BIOS, WLAN is enabled.

Intel® Driver Update Utility Wireless detects: Current Driver Installed 14.0.2.0. This device is unknown or unsupported. Please contact the manufacturer for possible updates.

What the hell is happening? Why can't I see the wireless adapter in the Device manager? The LAN is working fine so this is not an acute problem but it's very annoying.

Hello jannto,

In this case you may want to contact the computer manufacturer for a possible replacement since it seems to be a hardware issue.
