HDMI Port (G45 Chipset) incompatible with some TVs

Hello,

the issue I am facing is indeed very strange and I did already check quite a lot of things.

MOBO: DG45ID

TV: Panasonic 46" Plasma

The TV-set has 3 HDMI ports, 2 in the back and 1 on frontside. Connecting the PC to the front side port works (except HDCP) but both backside ports are not working at all. It's like if nothing would be connected at all. Connecting other devices like blue-ray player to the backside ports works fine as well. After checking physical things like using different cables, putting the surround system in between... etc. I let Panasonic exchange the MOBO of the TV-Set. Without any change. Using another Monitor (via DVI-converter) on the HDMI-Port works also fine. But no chance to connect the Panasonic to the Intel MOBO.

Of course I have the latest drivers and BIOS installed. OS is Vista SP1 x86.

Is there any way to get further info what is happening on the HDMI protocol? Why is HDCP not working with G45 chipset on the front side port but it is working on this port with other HDCP players?

I have really no plan anymore, please help....

Check the Specification of your TV Manufacturer for each HDMI specification (1.2/1.3)

Other than this, i dont have any suggestion.

Hi Aryan,

I had the latest drivers and the latest Bios. I just saw that there are newer drivers for XP available but as I am using Vista...

The strange thing is that both sides are working with other communication partners but not together. From the behaviour in Vista I think we are already failing on the Monitor P'n'P detection. But when I connect the TV to DVI instead of HDMI then it works. Unfortunately I need the DVI port for another monitor.

The mainboard seems to be ok as well, because if I connect a normal pc monitor via HDMI-to-DVI converter, it also works.

Panasonic told me that they are one of the HDMI founders so they claim to be fully compliant... So is it an Intel-Issue?

The only to find out if the board HDMI works fine, try your system on another TV different make/model. Use different HDMI cable as well.

I could check the TV with a different source (NVIDIA graphic card) and there it works fine, so it seems to be a problem of the onboard Intel graphic chipset. That's bad, because having a HTPC that is not working with a TV is not too funny...

Hello,

I have the same problem,

TV : SONY KDL-26M4000 Bravia both backside ports are not working at all, It don't has frontside port.

Using another TV AOC L19W831 to the backside ports works fine as well.

Any suggestions what I might do to fix this problem?

after doing further investigation, the only available solution: don't use the Intel Chipset. I changed to a competitive one and everything works fine immediately. It's just strange that Intel simply doesn't care.

Board DG45ID has a lot of problems: bios, hdmi, and audio too. It's disappointment.

The solution was to turn HDMI from the mother board off and buy a graphic card! To be honest I already spent too much time with this issue...
