Solved: Upgrading CPU

I am wanting to upgrade my cpu without upgrading my motherboard. My system configuration is:

Windows Vista Ultimate (build 7100)

Dell Inc. Inspiron 530

Board: Dell Inc. 0RY007

Serial Number: ..CN7360479G02B8.

Bus Clock: 200 megahertz

BIOS: Dell Inc. 1.0.5 09/14/2007

1.60 gigahertz Intel Celeron 420

64 kilobyte primary memory cache

512 kilobyte secondary memory cache

WDC WD2500JS-75NCB3 [Hard drive] (250.00 GB)

I found two processors that I think are compatable with my motherboard but I'm not sure:

Pentium 4 3.2GHz SL7PW 1M/800MHz Socket 775 P4 CPU

Intel BX80571E5200 Pentium Dual-Core E5200 2.5GHz 800MHz Socket 775 45nm CPU

Can someone tell me if these are compatable? If not can someone point me in the right direction? Any help would be great.

Those CPU's that you mentioned must be supported, an 2180 will work with your board for sure, also the pre-core models, like the P4@3.2 that you mentioned will work as well. I read that quad's may have some problems with 530 boards, but in the specs it say Quad as well ?!? To be sure 100% just bring your PC to the tech's that you buy your new CPU from and test in place, but an E5200 must work with it, and 2180 will work for sure, and all the pre-core P4 / Celeron cpu's

Why you not wait a while and just upgrade both MB and CPU? I always build my configurations ( except the servers, but thats another story ), why pay for "brand name" pc when i can buil a lot better configuration for that kind of money. Well sometimes it's better to take the "brand" pc because of the software bundle, but as hardware only it's almost always better to build your own, than buy already made "brand" config.

pentium 4 3.2 ghz is too hot and cooks itself as soon as possible.

the dual core is better, but i don't know if it's compatible.

hold the celeron , weaker but colder,

now i try to substitute my cooked pentium 4 3.0 ghz with a celeron 430, but i don't know if it is compatible
