I am building a pc and have a questions about the power for the cpu (i5-750). the motherboard is a GA-P55-UD4 and has a extra 8 pin power connector next to the cpu the instructions state, (use of a power supply providing a 2x4 12v power connector is recommended by the cpu manufacturer when using an Intel Extreme Edition cpu 130w. Do i leave it unplugged? if i plug it in will it cause any damage to cpu or board? is there any advantage to plugging it in?

thanks

I recommend using an 8pin it will not cause any damage the advantage is more stable power and higher OC.
