Code 43 when installing latest HD Graphics Driver on Windows 10 with the HD 5500

On a Dell XPS I have been unable to successfully install any of the versions of the graphics drivers from the Intel site or the Dell site. After many searches, I haven't found a solution. Is this a known problem, or is a solution available?

Thanks.

Hello jb81,

Please safely uninstall the Intel driver http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-034574.htm Graphics Drivers — Uninstalling the Intel® Graphics Driver and Intel Display/HDMI Audio Driver and then install it https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25484/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-10-15-40- Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 7/8.1/10* [15.40] following these instructions http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-033916.htm Desktop graphics drivers — How to Manually Install a Driver in Microsoft Windows 8* or Windows 8.1*.

If the issue persists try the following;

Amy,

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver as directed, but the following message appears at the end of the install process:

I also tried the:

instructions with no luck.

Thanks,

Dale

I see that I forgot to give the full name of the Dell laptop. It is the Dell XPS 13 9343.

Any other suggested fixes or workarounds?

Thanks,

Dale

It's unfortunate that you have this issue with our generic driver, at this point I would recommend installing the driver from your computer manufacturer.

Please refer to the following post

I'm having the exact same issue, except with the HD4600 Driver on Windows 10. I tried installing the latest drivers from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81496/Intel-HD-Graphics-4600-for-4th-Generation-Intel-Core-Processors Downloads for Intel® HD Graphics 4600 for 4th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors . I also tried installing the driver provided by Asus (because I have an Asus H97ME motherboard). But no luck, with the official drivers the analog output always goes to random noise. The only way to get it to work is with the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, but performance is sluggish and the second screen only works if it is properly turned on when the PC boots.

I also tried the link with the Driver update utility, but this lead to the same issues.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

With kind regards,

Paul

Hello Paul99,

Have you tried installing the driver with the following method http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-033916.htm Desktop graphics drivers — How to Manually Install a Driver in Microsoft Windows 8* or Windows 8.1*?

Could you please be more specific about "the official drivers the analog output always goes to random noise"?

Thank you.

Regards,

Amy.

Hi Amy,

Thanks for your reply. I did try to install the drive with the method you mention. But during the process I always get a BSOD with the message as you can see in the attached image.

I also tried to uninstall the graphics drivers in safe mode and then reinstalled the latest beta driver (but this happens with all versions) from your download site. But then at the end of the installation process the screen starts showing random noise (so fullscreen colored random noise) on the VGA port (analog output). When I reboot the machine the Intel4600 is showing code 43 again, so that probably means that it is using the Microsoft Basic Display drivers again.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Paul

At this point since you tried with our graphics drivers with no success I would recommend to install the driver from your computer manufacturer, give it a try http://www.asus.com/ ASUS USA.

Hi Amy,

Thanks for your help. I tried the batch file, but it does not change anything. Even when I run the batch file as Administrator or manually delete and make sure all igfx* files are gone. I'm afraid this will require a reinstall in windows 10 (hopefully that fixes it). I also bought an nvidia graphics card, but that one does not want to work either.. I will report back after reinstalling windows.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Amy,

Reinstall of windows 10 fixed it all! Seems like updating win 7 to win 10 is not as smooth as it could be. Thanks for your efforts!
