Hello all; just joined up and have a question re ruggedness of core cpus . . .

A little embarrassed asking this because it makes me sound like a fumble-bum, but actually I've been building for a long time, been doing it since the AT days, just a bit of an accident and a little wary of proceeding, so please abide me. Anyone have experience with the shock resistance of an i7 cpu? Just got my i7 4770k today, opened the box and, apparently the processor had fallen out of it's plastic clamshell & was loose; gulp, it fell to the kitchen floor (laminate over wood). Opinions on its survivability?

Hi RandK,

Let me help you with this.

Intel® processors are made under the high quality standards and are tested as well under heavy workload to assure the proper functionality to our customers.

So I would recommend you checking for any damage on the processor and if there is none you can test it on your system. In the worst case, the computer will not post.

If testing the processor and it does not work, I recommend you contacting your Intel® local support for a possible replacement.
