How to uninstall Intel Pro(R) Network Connection Software v9.2.4.9

Hi All,

My first post here.

I have a Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP1, Iomega NAS 400r.

Long ago we installed Intel Pro(R) Network Connection Software v9.2.4.9

to allow Teaming. That has developed a problem (constant enabling and

disabling of alternate NICs). So my first port of call was to update the

Intel drivers. This is what happened:

1) Download latest drivers from this site.

2) Run PROWin32.exe

3) Receive this message:

"The installed version of Intel PROSet is not supported for upgrades.

You must uninstall it, before installing this version". Fair enough.

4) Run Add/Remove Programs

5) Clck Change/Remove on "Intel Pro(R) Network Connection Software" entry

6) Recieve this message "Usage: DxSetup.exe /i/x /q[r|n] /l[i|w|e|a] [ANS=0|1]".

So can't upgrade and no instructions on how to unistall the old version.

Erm... Help?!

You probably have some older files or registry settings that are missing or corrupted. Do you have the CD or files you used when version 9.2.4.9 was installed. You might be able to use that CD or file to either uninstall or to modify the install and then uninstall.

Thanks for the response, but wow! That's not for the faint of heart and this is a critical

machine.

I was wondering about the error generated when trying to uninstall from Add/Remove

programs ("Usage: DxSetup.exe /i/x..."). Is there documentation for DxSetup.exe

somewhere? It sounds like that is an uninstaller. And that application exists in a directory

called: C:\Program Files\Intel\DMIX\uninst. If I knew the options to choose, could I

use DxSetup to do the uninstall manually?

You could try using the command line uninstall to see if you can get around the errors. The User Guide has a section on command line installation options including using DxSetup.exe. The User Guide is on the software CD or you can http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=N&DwnldID=11848 download the User Guide. Look under Windows* Setup. I took a quick screen shot that can help you find the section you need. I hope this works for you.

Hi Mark,

Just FYI, I never had the chance to try your suggestions.

The server suffered a disk failure in its RAID array and given this NIC

problem as well, we decided to replace the whole server.
