hi yes im having a problem with the voltage on my computer i was wonderinf if the voltage i to high at 1.43825 because that is what i had to use to get 4.21ghz

also i was wondering can you get 4.4ghz out of this processor and if so what would the propper voltage be for that as i have tried for a long time but have had no luck. i had heared somewhere that the quad cores of the current generation are limited at the 4ghz mark when i got mine to 4.2 and others have gotten their processors to 4.5 even 4.7. so any help would be great. on top of that im looking for a new graphics card to upgrade from my his radeon hd iceq 3 adeon hd 3870's in crossfire but i can only afford up to $220 max for them.

Thank you,

Billy Babin

You get as good as you get out of your CPU for overclocking.

Here is the specifications for the i7 -870 http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=41315 http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=41315

Operation beyond specifications is at your own risk.

Intel publishes these specifications because operation within these values, it will not burn out the CPU and the CPU will run stable.

Overclocker run the risk of burning out their CPU's which does not seem to slow anyone down much.

Check some of the overclocker forums and you should find reports on what risks others have taken and there results.

48% over rated operations sounds high to me, but I am not an overclocker so ....

The VID specification is

VID Voltage Range0.6500V-1.4000V

There is no correct voltage for an overclocked CPU, there never has been. Each CPU is different even if the are the exact same model and came off the the production line one after another, the same goes for motherboards. Therefore each overclock will be different therefore you will have to test yourself. As it has already been said, the recomended voltage for the CPU is 1.4 if u wanna go over that it is up to you. btw overclocking is not copying other peoples settings. overclocking is doing it your self finding out what part of you setup is holding you back and getting around it.
