Hi!
I have Intel Core i3-2130 processor with box cooler, installed on Intel Desktop Board DH77DF.
And I found that during stress test CPU Core temperature raised to 80 degrees of Celsius (176 degrees Fahrenheit) in 10 minutes.
I used "CPU Stress Test" in Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. I ran stress tests with default BIOS settings.
So, I'm wondering if this temperature is normal for this processor or not?
I didn't find "Maximum Core Temperature" in the specification, only "Tcase" which is 69.1 C.
I will really appreciate all you thoughts and ideas!

Hello psg1234,
Please check what is the temperature reported in the BIOS and let me know If it overpasses the Tcase.
For troubleshooting you try the following:
- Check that there's enough thermal material in between your CPU and heat sink
- Check that the CPU fan retainers are correctly attached to the motherboard.
Also, try running the Intel® processor diagnostic tool and with the Intel® desktop utility monitor the temperature of the processor.

Hi Freddy_Intel!
Thank you for your answer!
I've reinstalled the cooler. I hope I have used enough amount of thermal compound Also, I've checked that all four fasteners are locked.
Now I have the following:
1. The BIOS shows 54-55 C for CPU Core.
2. Intel Desktop Utilities shows 42-43 C for CPU if system is in no-load state.
3. Intel Extreme Tuning Utility: CPU Stress Test, 30 minutes, test passed. During this test CPU Core temperature was between 75-78 C.
4. Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool: test passed. During this test maximum CPU Core temperature was 75 C.
Also, IPDT reports "Temperature = 58 degrees C below maximum" in the beginning and "Temperature = 36 degrees C below maximum" in the end of testing cycle.

Hello Sergey Popov,
Based on the temperatures reported, they are within the specifications recommended for your processors meaning no overheating seems to be happening in your system.
Please note that processors can reached up to 80°C to 100°C before shutting down; to prevent overheating damaged and it will show you a message like this "The current processor temperature has reached a critical level (93°C)".
