Hi!
Have a strange problem and didn't found a solution that fits right now (No, I don't mean my english skills 😉 )
I use an Intel HD 2000 with the newest driver (9.17.10.2932) and every time I turn on the monitor or start my computer the graphic hangs for some seconds. I don't get a "Error" by Windows or something like this, it just hangs and after a few seconds it works. I use a regular monitor and a tv with this graphic and if I watch a movie on my tv I turn off the monitor. When I turn in on again it hangs. If I just start my PC and I login to Windows - hangs.
I already set te igpu-voltage to fixed mode (1,250 Volt). Since them I got no longer Errors while watching HD Movies or Videos on youtube, but still getting these little hangs.
I hope you understand what I mean. If you need more information just let me now!
Best regards
Lars

Hello,
Could you please provide more detailed information on the system that you are using like the model of the display and the model of the motherboard/laptop/system being used?
Also please let us know what kid of cable is being used (VGA, DVI. HDMI), is there any converter or adapter being used?
What other driver versions have you tested with? Have you tried using the system with no driver installed at all? Or tried under safe mode and see if those "hang issues"?

Hi Diego,
thank's for your answer.
The display I use is a LG E2260. My board is a ASRock Z68 Express. Board and display are connected by HDMI.
I just plugged of the cable of the monitor and plugged it in again --> same problem. The display "freezes" and after a few seconds it turns totally black and than it comes back and works proper. Maybe the board has like a "standby" if it got no signal?
I have tested almost all the drivers and none of them could solve this problem. Didn't tried it without driver or under safe mode but I will try and give you the results.
Thanks so far!
Lars

Are you using the Asrock Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen3?
If you do, you may try updating the system BIOS in the motherboard and see if that helps. This is posted at:
http://www.asrock.com/MB/overview.asp?cat=Download&os=BIOS&Model=Fatal1ty%20Z68%20Professional%20Gen3 http://www.asrock.com/MB/overview.asp?cat=Download&os=BIOS&Model=Fatal1ty%20Z68%20Professional%20Gen3
Their update instructions are posted here:
http://www.asrock.com/support/BIOSUI.asp?cat=BIOS http://www.asrock.com/support/BIOSUI.asp?cat=BIOS
Additionally, have you tried using another video port in the system like a VGA or DVI port and see if the issue persists?

I'm using the AsRock Z68 Pro-3M.
I already did a BIOS Update, but nothing changed.
Today I tried to use an VGA cable but the same problem occurs.

Were you having that hang issue even after setting the voltage of the igpu to fixed?
Is there and additional video controller, like a PCI Express* video card also installed in the system?

No, I dont have an additional video controller. I set the voltage to fixed because of another error with the integrated video controller. But the hang issue happened before already.

Hi radiac,
Can you try some things for me please? First, do a complete uninstall of the current graphics driver you have (delete all related files if/when prompted). Then install our latest driver for your system here (version: 3062) https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22627&lang=eng https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22627&lang=eng
Also, I need a copy of your dxdiag (Start -> Run -> dxdiag -> Save All Information) and your Intel® Graphics Driver Report (CTRL + ALT + F12 -> Options & Support -> Information Center -> Save)
Thanks,

Hi nic,
sorry for the late response. I uninstalled all the drivers and installed the one you gave me - but the problem still happens. I think that not only the monitor but the whole systems "hangs".

Thanks for that info radiac,
The first thing I see is that the BIOS date in your dxdiag is showing April of 2012, which appears to be older than the latest provided for your motherboard. There have been two new BIOS releases since, here is the link to where you can download the latest (version: 2.30) http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z68%20Pro3-M/?cat=Download&os=BIOS ASRock > Z68 Pro3-M
Does your display (connected via HDMI) have any adapters attached? Are you using an intermediary device between your system and display, such as a KVM or AV receiver? Your TV is connected via HDMI, how about your Monitor? Any adapters on that, or intermediary devices?
Also, if I can get some more clarification on your issue. What do you mean by "hang"? Also, which of the below are you experiencing hangs with?
Turn on your monitor (yes/no)
Turn off your monitor (yes/no)
Turn on your TV (yes/no)
Turn off your TV (yes/no)
Log in to Windows* (yes/no)
Thanks,
-Nic

Hi Nic,
so my tv/monitor (Samsung) is connected by HDMI and is usually turned off. I'm just using it if I watch a movie or something like this. My primary monitor (LG) is connected by a DVI to HDMI cable, because the mainboard just has one hdmi, one dvi and one vga plug. I already tried to connect the primary monitor by vga cable but the same problem happens.
So, the hang is usually like a whole "system hang"/freeze and happens:
Turn primary monitor (LG by dvi to hdmi) on --> Yes! It freezes for some seconds, than it "flashes" and then I can work again. It doesn't happen on turning off the primary monitor.
Turn on tv while primary is on --> No!
Turn off tv while primary is on --> No!
Turn on tv, while primary is off --> No!
Turn on primary while tv is on --> Yes! Both screens are freezing and "flashing" after a few seconds.
Log in after regular start or restart --> Yes!
Dont know if the monitor is the problem, or the drivers or the settings. I tested it without any drivers and safemode before (see my 2nd comment):
Tested it right now without drivers installed and under safe mode and in both cases the problem doesn't appear! So it seems like a driver problem to me?!
Do really think the BIOS update would fix it? Don't wanna update the BIOS just "to try it".
Thank for your help!

For most issues there are many reasons to avoid doing a BIOS update. There are very few situations in the grand scheme of computing where you are ever asked to update the BIOS. Graphics is one of those very few situations where a BIOS update will be asked for, specifically because it can either resolve an issue, or it is a stepping stone to resolving an issue.
Does powering on your Primary (LG) cause a hang when the TV is off? How about if you disconnect the TV completely and then power on the primary? If the answer to either of these is yes, try using either a straight HDMI to HDMI connection from your Primary to your system, or straight DVI to DVI (no adapters, no adapter cables, just a straight connection with the same connector type).
Thanks,
-Nic

Sorry for the late response... something went wrong during the BIOS update --..--
Had to wait for a new (free!!!) BIOS Chip from AsRock - nice support by the way.
Howsoever, the BIOS Version didn't fix the problem. But your hind to plug off the tv worked!
So, if I plug off the HDMI cable to the tv, I don't get a hang/freeze anymore when I turn off/on my monitor.
Seems like a setting problem?

It sounds like your TV is possibly set as the "Default display" (possibly in the BIOS). When you turned on the LG, it takes control from the TV, and re-adjusts settings as appropriate (hence the temporary freeze, its adjusting for you). Check the BIOS and see if you have an option for selecting which display is the primary/default (note: this is not the same as setting primary/secondary in the Intel® Graphics Control Panel!)
Let me know what happens,
