Does the CPU benchmark score means the real power?7700K v.s. E5 1650 v2

Hi ,

I'm doing Pro-Audio. I'm deciding between a 7700 K PC v.s. a E5 1650 V2 mac pro.

What got me confused is E5 1650 V2 is very very old (2013, 4th gen CPU) while 7700K is the newest 7th i7, BUT:

the benchmarks showing the E5 1650 V2 is even slightly more powerful. Wouldn't the 7th gen 7700k CPU is much newer than the 4th gen cpu? I didn't get it

Thank you

Go with the 7th gen processor and enjoy the benefits of long-term support.

And, stay with your other thread:

Thank you I do not care about the support for now. I just care about the power/performance

and I want to know why though the Xeon Cpu is very old, but has a higher score at benchmark. Is it really better?

Look at the differences in these two processors: https://ark.intel.com/compare/75780,97129 Intel® Product Specification Comparison

Things like cores, threads, cache, etc are important. If you do not know what they mean, do a little research to help your decision.

And, support should be a consideration in any purchase plan.
