UNIGINE Superposition Benchmark OpenGL crash

Brand new GPU stress-testing tool from UNIGINE. It also features interactive VR experience with support for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

Works fine with Direct X API, crashes with OpenGL API on Intel HD 5500, driver build v4624

Reminder: the OpenGL driver for Broadwell ig8icd*.dll hasn't been updated since build v4463 or so (i already complainted in the developer forum).

I'm not in the mood to contact Unigine...

Stefan3D, Thank you very much for providing those pictures.

In order to further assist you with this subject, please provide the graphics report, right click anywhere on the desktop and look for the option: Intel® HD Graphics control panel, once you open that, choose "options and support", then select "information center", and then choose where it says "file" at the bottom, you will get a text file, please attach it to this thread, so we can verify it.

Besides that please install the SSU tool (System Support Utility):

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility

Once you do that, the tool will allow you to save the information as a file, so, once you save it, please attach it to this thread, in order for us to see it.

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Alberto

Hello Stefan3D,

I have an update on this issue.

Our investigation shows that this application is launching with (OGL) OpenGL* 4.5 extensions. By design, Kaby Lake (7th Generation) Graphics Controllers support up to OpenGL* 4.4. This can be confirmed here: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005524.html Supported APIs and Features for Intel® Graphics Drivers

The work around for this would be from the application side. The app developers might be able to code it so it asks the Graphics Controller for its current OGL capabilities and launch accordingly to the results. I went ahead and contacted Unigine* to explain the situation to them and requested additional logic be added to their code.

From our standpoint, we would consider this issue closed as expected behavior.

Kindest Regards,

Ronald M.
