Hello,

I'm looking to update my Video Driver with the last one because i have a huge drop on fps on the most recent games ...the Graphic Card is an Intel HD Graphic 4400 that runs on i3 4030U Haswell but i didn't find a driver that runs on Windows 8.1 that fits with Haswell code name. Only 5th generations Broadwell and 6th Generations Skylake that running on windows 8.1. I need a driver of 4th generation Haswell that runs on Windows 8.1

I've tried all the drivers that you're having on drivers section on the website, including those who said " Support 4th Generation and U platform" , they doesn't fit and came out with an error when i m trying to install them, it says " the driver beeing installed is not validated for this computer. please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer". The one on computer manufacturer is the one that i have now, and only one. On the other hand, the driver that fits Haswell but is running on windows 10 is good, but it says i can't install it because i don't fit minimum requirements, truly, i m running windows 8.1....so, what i can do about it? I need an windows 8.1 driver..it can't be found anywhere? i was expected to find it on Intel website....but from what i'm seeing, none of the drivers fits with my CPU 4th Generation.

Thank you!

Here is a list of all available drivers for your GPU: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81497/Intel-HD-Graphics-4400 Downloads for Intel® HD Graphics 4400

If you encounter an error message, proceed like this:

Create a system restore point

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/instantanswers/e6bbddb0-9db4-4d88-9063-42c52c79a96e/create-a-system-restore-point

Install the desired driver via "have disk method" as described at:

(ignore prolog about MS surface)

ok, well, i managed somehow to install it, by uninstall the previous version of the driver, closed internet connection to avoid the installer to search for compatibility issues and done. I have now the ultimate version , january 2017 but along with this new version another problem showed up, i can't open any picture, anything that need GPU Intel assistance, except my desktop who doesnt need it so much. As long as i will try to open any picture, game or everything that involve Intel GPU my system crash with a blue scree and says "kernel_security_check_failure". This means the driver that i just installed isn't good at all, even if is specially made it for this kind of GPU and video card. So? what's your best advice? I m thinking to unistall it again and then install a bit lower version than the latest but bigger that the on i have from manufacturer to see if along with that driver will show up any other blue screens.

Thx!

...

Reminder: if you think that things get worse you can always restore from a system restore point

4624 doesnt work on me. On readme.txt says that 4th gen Haswell from that build is working only on win 10. I have 8.1 so is not working for me. On the other hand i ve tried both build 4578 and 4414..same error, same BSOD. Dont have any clue why it doesnt work since is made it for Intel 4400...but..there is a problem..dunno why. I'll try to install lower versions of it, maybe chipset isnt support it but..is seems a crap if it is like this. Nothing is working so far...dunno why i have this registry conflict..i ll try to find a dumb file to see what mentioned there. Maybe will help me with a phisical adress from where this BOSD might come.

I just finished to reset windows files. I will find out in a minute if was a registry corruption or bad file or the current driver still affecting the reg keys.

same problem...i just finish to install all drivers, including intel drivers from 4578 build and same BSOD with "kernel_security_check_failure"....i dont have any clue what to do ....new reg keys after clean windows and same thing...the error is this 0x00000139

"The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000139 (0x0000000000000003, 0xffffd000389f6520, 0xffffd000389f6478, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 061917-19531-01."

from what i searched bug check at adress 0x139 means :

0 -A stack-based buffer has been overrun (legacy /GS violation).

1- VTGuard instrumentation code detected an attempt to use an illegal virtual function table. Typically, a C++ object was corrupted, and then a virtual method call was attempted using the corrupted object's this pointer.

3- A LIST_ENTRY was corrupted (for example, a double remove). For more information, see the following Cause section.9 - A call to RtlQueryRegistryValues was made specifying RTL_QUERY_REGISTRY_DIRECT without RTL_QUERY_REGISTRY_TYPECHECK, and the target value was not in a trusted system hive.

so...which one could be?

Kernel debugging is beyond my knowledge

At least Microsoft offers this article

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/bug-check---bug-check-0x139-kernel-security-check-failure Bug Check 0x139 KERNEL\_SECURITY\_CHECK\_FAILURE | Microsoft Docs

no, it doesnt work, i ve tried both method to install them, another previous driver, but noting. I still get that BSOD with "kernel_security_check_failure" on every photo i wanna open or game. I will try with latest method i have on hand, to repair windows registry maybe somehow windows installation kit will rewrite all registry database to be updated and see the new driver. Maybe some of them are corrupted or damage but i dont think so. It worth a shot. I ve tried everything else and nothing is working.

P.S i'll let you know if i have the solution and the BSOD is fixed.

Thx!

Hello catazamfir,

Thank you for contacting the Intel community.

Please bear in mind, that Intel provides http://downloadcenter.intel.com/ generic versions of drivers for general purposes. Your https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/oems.html computer manufacturer may have altered the features, incorporated customizations, or made other changes to your driver and for this reason you are getting errors when install the generic driver. Intel recommends you contact your computer manufacturer for the latest system specific updates and technical support information.

If you can provide us with your computer model I can try to find the driver from your computer manufacturer.

Best regards,

Ivan U.
