With this version, my wireless connection is finally stable:)

Download speed is as it should, 25mbit, but upload is between ~7-10mbit, before update it was also 25mbit, but connection dropped frequently.

Is there any properties I could change or is it just waiting for a new version?

OS: win8 x64

card: Intel Centrion Advances-N 6235

driver version: 15.10.0.11

Network:

Type: 802.11n

security: WPA2-PSK

Hello JohanH,

It is good to know that your connection has improved.

First of all, would you please indicate: where did you obtain the transfer speeds data from?

Please note that if such data was obtained from an internet speed test, the information will not necessarily reflect the local wireless network performance but mostly the internet connections speed and therefore, it may depend on your connection with your internet service provider or other conditions.

Secondly, in order to improve your local wireless connection you may update the wireless router firmware, use AES encryption with WPA2 (instead of TKIP options), and use the less crowded non-overlapping channel in your network environment. Additionally, you may also connect at 5GHz (with channel bonding) if the router supports it, instead of 2.4GHz.

Thx, I used this site, http://www.bredbandskollen.se/ Bredbandskollen, its a site/service(tptest) used primarily in sweden, and founded by IIS.SE(Internet Infrastructure Foundation is responsible for the Swedish top level domain), and the rates where good before update, but the connection was dropped frequently. VPN and RDP dropped all the time, very frustrating.

If i disable the built in Intel 6235, and connects a D-link DWA-140 usb-device its back at ~23-26 up and down. But I dont want to block my USB slots when I payed for a built in wifi.

And, if I run test from Ipad and Iphone they both show results at around 23-24 up n down.

Concerning changing the router settings, I've used "inSSIDer 3" to determine the best channels based upon all my neighbors settings, should not be the problem, but I'm going to try changing some of the settings to see if there is an issue with the current 6235 driver for win 8.

You may also try with version 16.1.3 for Windows* 8. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23065 Download Center

Thx, but you wont get rid of me that easily

I've installed it, but windows wont change/find(?) the new version. Also ran explicitly as Administrator and restarted. Can I somehow extract the actual drivers and .inf file from install .exe? Or am I simply doing something else wrong?

If I try to select "update driver" in device manager and list available drivers the following is shown.

(First row to show the installed version listed in "Add remove programs", lines in red square is from the "update driver popup" when showing compatible /available to hardware when clicking "Update driver" in device details)

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2648672/6235.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2648672/6235.jpg

The only thing windows event viewer is listing that could be a problem when I choose newest v. available is this:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2648672/event1.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2648672/event1.jpg

So I tried the one without any version number beside it, and it was v. "14.8.8.75", which gives me ~20-22 down and around ~16-20 up. The newer one hits the roof at ~7 up.

Also, another difference when pinging my local router.

v. 14 : almost always 3ms

v. 15 : almost always <1ms, but sometimes ~300ms.

Additional info cos I'm such a nice guy: Two print screens of the "Drivers details" showing the actual files used:

changed a "up" to "down"...

The driver version does not necessarily have to match the whole Intel® Proset package; in this case the Intel® Centrino Advanced-N 6235 properties' driver tab (in Device Manager) should display 15.10.2.

If you want to make sure the driver installs correctly just uninstall both Intel® Proset from Programs and Features and the driver from device manager and install Intel® Proset v16.1.3 again.

Aha, so to summarize this. I've got the latest drivers, these does not work well with win 8 x64 if I want to be able to perform upload over ~7mbit.

Solution: use the older drivers, v.14.8.8.75. Gives the best speed up and down.

I might have been a bit too quick about v.14.8.8.75, I've experienced a few(like approx 1-2 a day) drop-outs. Fix has been to manually reconnect(Connect automatically doesn't seem to work).

So now I've installed the new 16.1.5, which gives me driver v.15.10.3.2. This one seems to be stable(no connection drops), but upload is still ~7mbit
