My Intel HD Graphics will only run at 1600 x 1200 on my 2560 x 1600 monitor

Hello Folks,

I recently was helped out to get my Intel HD Graphics working, as I was unable to install the Graphics Driver.

After that issue was resolved, I noticed a similar problem I had when I tried to use the IGP(HD4000) on my i5 3570K CPU.

In that instance, the highest resolution offered to me in Graphical Properties was 1600 x 1200, when my Dell U3011 Monitor's default resolution was 2560 x 1600.

At the time I didn't worry about it as I was using a Discrete Video Card anyway and thought that issue would be resolved in future products.

Now I have purchased a Haswell based Pentium, the G3220, with HD Graphics and I notice the same problem again.

So is the issue some kind of incompatibility with Dell's U3011 and Intel's HD Graphics?

My system appears to recognise the monitor properly, as it reports it as a Dell U3011.

Any idea on how I can get my HD Graphics to work at 2560 x 1600 with this monitor?

Cheers

Raoul

Hi RaoulThorley,

Are you using the dual display, extended mode, single display? Can you confirm what connection type are you using HDMI, DVI, VGA? Can you please post your graphics report here?

Hello Kevin,

I'm using the standard Dual Link DVI cable\connection which came with my Dell U3011 monitor.

I have only ever had one monitor connected at any one time to my computer.

I hope I have understood what you mean by posting a graphics report, as the below was obtained from the Information Section of the Intel HD Graphics Utility.

Hi RaoulThorley,

We have come up with a new driver for your graphics controller. Can you please try this one?

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23106&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%207%20(64-bit)*&DownloadType=%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09%09Drivers%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09

Intel ® controllers do not support DVI Dual Link but Single link only. Can you try the system with a single link cable?

Got an new HP EliteBook 840 I7-3600U, Intel HD 4400, 8GB Ram and a new HP Z30i monitor with resolution 2560x1600 60Hz.

I got problems with the monitor Z30i, it goes down in Power save mode when ill connect it to the laptop whit DP. I have tryed DP to DP and DP to DVI cabels nothing works. I have tryed Intel driver 10.18.10.3345 and the one form Microsoft update 10.18.10.3379. I have tryed both Windows 8 64Bit and 8.1 64Bit

I got 2560x1600 when i tryed a more powerful AC adapter.

AC Adapter Model: HSTNN-LA12

INPUT: 100-240V~ 3.5A, 50-60Hz

OUTPUT: 19.5V 11.8A 230W

My 4 years old IBM x201 with Intel HD Graphics works fine with the Z30i monitor on DP to DP cable

Hi TubEtubSockA,

Thanks for the information.

I recommend you checking the power options in the system. Besides this, updating the BIOS and the Management Engine in the system provided by the computer manufacture is a very good step.
