Does latest driver fix igfxem ownership issue?

Hi,

So for a while now i've had an issue with Steam, where i couldnt update certain games, and it's because I didnt have ownership to the files as they were taken over by a 3rd party.

 

I did some looking about online and found i wasnt alone and others had the same issue, and noticed that there was a thread on your forum relating to it

My question is, do the latest drivers such as hd530 v21.20.16.4534 have this fix incorporated into it?

I ask as i'd prefer to know before trying it out as if it isn't fixed, then i'll end up having to reformat my drive to remove the game.

This driver is out-of-date.

I ask as i'd prefer to know before trying it out as if it isn't fixed, then i'll end up having to reformat my drive to remove the game.

Why? Just uninstall the game.

You can't uninstall it, because certain files become completely locked out. Tried to manually take ownership but nothing would work so easiest option for me was to format.

I understand you are not been able to update certain Steam games due to some files are locked.

 

 

Let me apologize for any inconvenience this issue may be causing to you.

 

 

This issue was fixed since graphics driver build 4664. Newer versions of the graphics driver should include the fix too. Were you able to install the graphics driver that was provided by Stefan3D?

Hi Fred,

I hadnt tried it yet, as it wasn't made clear that all newer version had the fix, so didn't want to try it encase it didnt work and i have to reinstall about 750 gb of games :S

Will give it a try tonight, and see how it goes.

Upon installing the latest driver, i am now getting this happen every time i reopen my laptop from hibernation. Only way around it is to shut down using the power button and restart the laptop.

I ran a scan to check for viruses but none showed

To attach a file, you must click "Use Advanced Editor" on the upper right hand corner of the response box, then the "attach" option will appear on the bottom right hand corner of the response box.

The graphics driver that is currently installed in your computer should include the fix for the issue you are having with Steam.

 

 

Please check if issue persists or not with the graphics driver that is currently installed in your computer.

Hi Fred,

Everything seems to be working at the moment, it's updating fine as i expect it, am i ok to keep this post open for when the graphics driver / windows needs to update so i dont have to post it all again? As i think if it's going to fall over, it'll be then.
