BITS test for E8400 processor

Hello.

After ~5years of using my E8400 processor(never overclocked) on a G41M-P26 (MSI, 26.11 BIOS ver.) motherboard with Win 7 Ent I am unable to re-install the OS, the message displayed says something like:

\Windows\system32\winload.exe error 0xc000035a:

Attempting to load a 64-bit application, however the CPU is not compatible with 64-bit mode

I disregarded this information and focused for 3-4 days on dealing with what seem to be Win7 stuff but in most of the tested solutions this incompatibility 32/64bit kept popping up.

Running out of ideas/solutions I took a look in BIOS and, surprise surprise I noticed that "Intel (R) 64" is marked as "N/A" in the information page: Cell Menu->CPU Specifications->CPU Technology Support(please see picture).

Since I have no OS available for now I looked for DOS bootable alternatives and installed BITS on USB.

Question: can this tool tell me if I have a problem with 64-bit mode?

Despite some "Unknown processor" message I ran all tests but I can't make any sense of the results

I also send an inquiry to the mobo manufacturer asking if this is a known issue that can be fixed in any way.

Thank you much in advance.

The_provider: Thank you very much for joining the Intel® Processors communities. We will do our best in order to provide the information you are looking for.

In regard to your inquiry, from our side we can confirm the processor does support both Windows 32 or 64 bit versions, please look for instruction set:

Now, this problem seems to be related to the board itself in reference to the BIOS, please let us know the response from MSI, since they might be able to provide a solution for this problem:

Hello again, indeed it was a motherboard issue - the processor was identified as lacking 64-bit processing capabilities - but thanks to MSI's support team things went back to normal after CMOS reset.

Thank you.

Hello again.

Unfortunately for me the same issue keeps coming back, in more than half of the cases the processor is wrongly identified in the BIOS and I have to do the CMOS reset almost every time, and that slowly turns into a nightmare...

That is why I have to return to my initial question: can BITS log results posted above tell anything about how my processor performs with the 64-bit capabilities?

Or about something else bad that could lead to the processor being identified as lacking 64-bit(I remember there were a very small number of tests failed)?

Thank you.

Hello The_provider: We are sorry to hear the issue persists. In regard to your question, the Bits log provided previously does not quite tell us how the processor performs with 64-bit capabilities or why it is identified of lacking 64-bit support. As you mentioned above, the problem seems to be related to the board itself and the best thing to do will be to get in contact with the manufacturer of it about this scenario. Also, in order to test the processor we can run the Intel® PDT, it does an overall test on it and if it passed the test it should be working fine:
