Trying to run it with the 1Tb HHD that i have.

Main OS Driver is SSD drive,but due to limited space most apps /games runs from the 1TB HDD

Other thing is I also found out your OS needs to be installed with a GPT partition table and not a MBR partition table.... (makes no sens to me tho.... ) mine is MBR....

And You will receive this error if your BIOS is configured in Legacy Mode. Your BIOS has to be configured as UEFI and CSM must be disabled. (did not know that to ) mine is on UEFI+Legacy - if i pick UEFI ... PC keeps going back to Motherboard interface screen..

Cant see how i should like re'install windows for all those settings/bios settings to just Run the damn 32gig optane memory/M.2.

There must be another way ? edit the damn Firmware so it would support MBR! not just GPT! dont even have Win10 dics only Win7 64bit Ultimate... (had free up[grade to Win10) so going to need get Win10 dics in time to come it seems...

Did how ever install some Intel tech that shows the thing is there,cant i just make partion with out the software ?

Hello GreenHorns,

 

 

We understand you have recently purchased a new 32GB Intel® Optane™ Memory module, which you would like to use to accelerate your system. However, there are a few changes that would need to take place before your current configuration can be used.

 

 

It's important to keep in mind that Intel® Optane™ Memory can only be used to accelerate SATA based boot drives. Option 1: Start over from scratch (Recommended method).

 

 

1. Back up your data.

 

2. Make sure your current Windows* installation is activated. Make sure you're using a Microsoft* account to login. (Read more about https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12440/windows-10-activation Windows® 10 and Digital Entitlement activation).

 

3. Download and create a new https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/home Windows® 10 installation media.

 

4. Change the "Windows* OS Configuration" option in your MSI* BIOS to Windows* 8.1/10 WHQL Support Enabled. This will switch you over to UEFI mode. If your BIOS is set to UEFI mode, your drive will be formatted using a GPT partition table by the Windows* installer.

 

5. Install your OS.

 

6. Download the latest Optane™ Memory Software: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26865/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-?v=t SetupOptaneMemory.exe

 

 

Note, I would like to recommend choosing your 1TB HDD for your boot drive. This way you will have enough space for your games and once system acceleration has been enabled, this drive should perform way better than your SSD.

 

 

Option 2: Fix all things, accelerate your (boot drive) SSD.

 

 

1. Back up your data just to be safe.

 

2. Convert your Windows* installation to UEFI (this will also change your partition table to GPT): https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/14286.converting-windows-bios-installation-to-uefi.aspx Converting Windows* BIOS installation to UEFI.

 

1. Note: The steps provided are for all Windows® 10 releases. However, starting on Windows® 10 Creators Update you may use the following, much simpler, guide instead: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/81502-convert-windows-10-legacy-bios-uefi-without-data-loss.html Convert Windows® 10 from Legacy BIOS to UEFI (scroll down to "Option One" for the actual instructions). This will not work for earlier builds.

 

3. Enable your Optane™ Memory.

 

 

Option 3: Things get messy. Migrate your OS to your HDD, then accelerate it.

 

 

1. Back up your data.

 

2. Reset your current installation (as close to a clean install as it gets without needing installation media nor re-activation). This will uninstall all your programs.

 

3. Clone your boot drive over to your 1TB HDD. Then format your old boot drive and use if for storage, maybe.

 

1. For data migration, we can recommend http://www.todo-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm EaseUS To-do Backup Free*, or https://sourceforge.net/projects/clonezilla/ Clonezilla*. The https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19324/Intel-Data-Migration-Software?v=t Intel® Data Migration Software may not work since you're not cloning Intel® drives.

Hi

Thanks for the Solid Feedback has some Nice options to it!

yea it seems those are the only Real options at this moment tho.

Going to get that Win10 Media but is also want to Purchases win10 disc so that i have at least something to work from in the near future and some backup in Mind.

By the way u guys might wane mention those small things before People buy it because most folks normal just check ''hmmm More speed!! BUY! IT!'' then the small print kicks in!

And the Z270 MSI board had some Info u needed should u wane reinstall windows 10 and then the GPT partition events to follow so on.
