Intel Centrino Wireless-n 2230 Bluetooth Driver

Hello,

I upgrade to Windows 10 and I can't get my Bluetooth drivers installed. The wireless adapter is a Wireless-n 2230. I do not see any Windows 10 Bluetooth drivers for this card on intel website.

I saw this post https://communities.intel.com/thread/77850 https://communities.intel.com/thread/77850 but my adapter is not listed there

Windows update tries to download the driver but it keeps failing and it simply shown as an unknown device in device manager.

I am using a Dell Vostro 3560. I have checked dell's website but they do not have it listed there under drivers for the product.

I tried installing the windows 8.1 64bit 2230 Bluetooth drivers. It driver installs successfully but it is still shown as an unknown device in device manager.

Hardware ID: USB\VID_8087&PID_07DA\6&2D3B92E5&0&5

Thanks in advance for any assistance rendered.

Hello ttsoldier,

During the update process, Microsoft Windows* should install the basic Bluetooth* drivers that allow you to use your Intel Bluetooth® adapter. Please let us know if you were able to use Bluetooth after the update using the inbox driver.

Was this adapter built into the computer from factory?

Please let us know which OS version did you update from, also, if you can provide the driver version you had before the update.

I have the same issue with a Centrino Wireless-n 2230. I have a Toshiba U925T-2300 which was running Windows 8.1. I ran the update to Windows 10 and fell foul of the "Cisco VPN" problem where no network adapters appeared. To try and resolve that I downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the Toshiba site. That made no difference but once I found the fix for the VPN issue it all began to work (Wi-Fi and bluetooth). But after a couple of days suddenly it is failing again.

When I look in device manager I see only the Wi-Fi device, not the bluetooth devices. The bluetooth indicator light on the front panel has gone out. Windows will not allow me to turn on Wi-Fi - I move the slider to 'on' and it moves right back to 'off'. I assume that Windows 10 updated the driver for me (thanks!) and now it's not working.

The adapter is built in to the laptop.

Thanks for the response. As mentioned before, Windows is failing to install Bluetooth drivers over Windows Updates and no Basic Drivers were installed .

Yes, the adapter is built into the computer from factory.

In this link, (http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-035684.htm Intel® Wi-Fi Products — Which Intel Wireless Products Support Windows® 10?) my adapter is not listed.

Strange enough, I was part of the Technical Preview for Windows 10 from the beginning and the Bluetooth adapter always worked straight up to the RTM build.

I was dual booting with Windows 8.1 and once Windows 10 was released "officially", I formatted both partitions and did a clean install from ISO.

Since the clean install, the Bluetooth is not working.

I ended up rolling back to 8.1, tidying up my installation (get rid of VPN client, install latest drivers for everything), and then tried again. This time it worked!

W10 has been working on the machine fine for a while now.

I spoke about the WLAN driver, not the Bluetooth part of the component.

Thanks as I mentioned above I was getting an error while installing the driver.

A bit of fiddling around and I was able to get the driver to install successfully.

However, my Bluetooth is still not working and it still shown as an unknown device in device manager. Hardware ID : USB\VID_8087&PID_07DA&REV_7869

So from the screenshot attached you can see on the left hand side that control panel shows the latest driver version installed.

However, on the right hand side, the intel driver update utility is showing the installed version as 15.16.02 and prompting to download and install the latest version.

This is very confusing. Thanks in advance for any feedback

Hello ttsoldier,

It seems the information is being misreported by IDUU. We will look into this so it can be corrected.

The driver 18.1.1525.1445 is the current one available from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/66889/Intel-Centrino-Wireless-N-2230-Single-Band Download Center for the Bluetooth* component of the Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230. There is no need for you to update this device driver, so you can uncheck the update, or cancel the operation.

Thanks for the response.

However, the problem is not the IDUU. I am downloading and installing the drivers manually, not with IDUU.

It isn't working.

Hello Ttsoldier,

We are sorry to know the issue persists, at this point, you can consider the following options:

- Try uninstalling Intel® Wireless Bluetooth from the Programs menu, and also the Bluetooth adapter from Device Manager (if it is detected). Then proceed to install the Driver 18.1.1525.1445 you downloaded before.

- If the issue persists, contact the http://www.intel.com/support/oems.htm Computer Manufacturer Support, they will be able to let you know if your PC is supported with Windows* 10, or if they are aware of any situation specific to your computer.

- Also, consider that there may have been a problem during the Windows* upgrade process (since the Bluetooth® adapter is not detected after trying different methods). You might want need to go back to your previous OS, remove the Bluetooth software and uninstall/delete the driver, the proceed with the OS upgrade.

Download this driver (Included Intel PROSet-Wireless Software for Bluetooth 18.1.1525.1445)

With this latest WiFi and Bluetooth driver your Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 should work.

I know Jonathan,

I would never load drivers from ambigious providers.

In this case I would accept only those from Intel or Mircosoft.
