4965agn compatibility with non-centrino laptops

I want to purchase an Intel 4965agn mini pci express card to upgrade my Atheros-based g card in my laptop. I am wondering if the 4965agn is compatible with AMD/Nforce-based laptops? Sorry if this seems a silly question.
