Is Intel Atom 330 good enough to Play Blueray discs.

I have just made up a media centre for use in the home. It is using the Intel Atom 330 duo core 2 Proccessor.

I thought of adding a Blueray player such as the LG CH08. However I am having my doubts as it specifies an e6300, e6700 etc or higher.

How does the Atom 330 compare with those proccessors higher lower or similar.?

Hi Christopher

It should be fine, however one thing to watch out is the Power supply.

Atom systems tend to have small power supply. ATX V2.2 Min 400W to be safe.

Hi,

I just quickly picked out one websites testing:

http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=329&Itemid=69&limit=1&limitstart=6 http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=329&Itemid=69&limit=1&limitstart=6

You can see that the Atom 330, is about 50-75% the performance of and E6300

The BlueRay drive will work fine, however playing movies will be a problem unless the CPU is paired with a good graphics card that can take the video processing.

I went ahead and built the system as I said and it works great. The motherboard has an HDMI output and so drives my 32" HD TV and has a great picture.

Thanks all for the replies.
