Sticker on the bottom side of CPU

Hi! I've recently bought a i3770K processor (OEM), and there's one thing I would like to know before I proceed with installation. There is a small sticker (with literal / numeric code on it) in the center of the bottom (back) side of the CPU, it doesn't cover any contact pads of the processor but its purpose remains unclear to me. I'm not sure is it safe to remove the sticker or maybe It is there for a reason. What am I supposed to do with it? That's the question. Considering that I couldn't find any information on this matter, I came here asking for some help. Thank you in advance.

Retail boxed processor versions do not come with the label in question. Have you contacted the place of purchase or system builder in order to determine if this is a sticker they have placed for warranty purposes? There are providers who require the sticker not to be removed for warranty purposes.

If this is not where the sticker came from, you could try contacting your local support group for you to be able to send pictures in order to receive further assistance: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/contactsupport http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/contactsupport

The retailer confirmed that the sticker was placed by their supplier for warranty purposes. Problem solved. Thank you for your help.
