Hi,
thanks for reading this. I have an ASUS Vivobook S400, so I'm using the
Intel HD 4000
Intel Core i5-3317U
4GB RAM
and my performance is pretty bad, a lot worse than expected. I've noticed however that my clock speed sticks stubbornly to 350MHz... shouldn't turbo boost up that? Also, my temps are at 55C, whether I try to game or not.
Is maybe GPU-Z not reading it right? I'm going to run 3mark06 soon, once it's downloaded! Thanks for any advice

Hi Franz,
Can you provide more information about what poor performance issues you're having? What games/applications are you experiencing the issues with?
Also, please provide a copy of your dxdiag for review. (Start -> Run -> dxdiag -> Save All Information).
Thank you,
-Nic

Hi,
I figured it out... my laptop will only use turbo boost in the "mode" it was started, the modes being plugged in or battery.
If I start it on battery, and then plug it in, the instant it's plugged in, the CPU and GPU are clocked to min, irrelevant of what I'm doing.
Is this by design?

Can you provide a copy of your dxdiag for me to take a look at? I'm also curious as to what your power settings are running at. Start -> Control Panel -> Power Options. Look there and see if you're set to "High Performance" or "Balanced/Power Save".
Thanks,

Oh sorry forgot to mention. In order to provide a copy of your dxdiag do this; Start -> Run -> dxdiag -> Save All Information. Copy & Paste the information from that text file here and I'll take a look at it.
Thanks,

Thanks for the information.
The current version of the driver you have (2712) is out of date. Additionally, you should try using your OEM provided drivers (Acer*) instead of the Intel® generic drivers. Go ahead and try the .2867 driver located here;
http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=4088 Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / Aspire / Aspire S3-391
Let me know how it goes,

2712 is the latest released version from Dell for Windows 7 home premium. If you are using the 2875 from our site, you may experience decreased performance, since you are operating a generic driver on an OEM system.

This has nothing to do with his OEM system. 2712 is a series 15.26 driver whereas 2875 a series 15.28 driver. 15.28 has performance issues in various games, especially due to the low clock bug.

You are right Yups. Son Nguyen Duc was able to successfully play his games with the 2712 driver, the one provided by Dell. He's currently trying to use the 2875 generic driver, which he is experiencing issues with. I recommend going back to the 2712 driver since it was best functioning for them.
Thanks,

There are a number of factors that can effect performance on browser games like the ones you've shown. Internet speed and browser choice may also determine how well the games play. I would suggest updating your flash + java to the latest versions.
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
http://www.java.com/en/ http://www.java.com/en/
Update those and let me know if you see any improvements.
