Asus Zenbook Windows 8 wireless failing

Hi

I have a Zenbook UX305FA and at home the wireless doesn't work at home - it connects but often disconnects or is very slow (0.5MB/s), but it generally works elsewhere (other wifi networks and tethering hotspot from iphone). Our home router is a Technicolor TGN 582n in the UK. Wireless card is an Intel 7265, with September 2015 drivers. It has already gone back to Asus once, with them having replaced the Wifi card, IO board etc. They certified it working - but it doesn't at home.

Very grateful if anyone can help identify what the problem might be?

cheers

Graham

graham726,

If it works fine elsewhere as you said and only at home it doesn't. We recommend first that you check your router configurations specially the security features as they may inpact your connection. As a second option you can check these other solution below:

1 - Disable Power Saving Functions: Go to Control Panel >> Hardware and Sound >> Power Option >> Set the High Performance and apply to default settings.

2 - Check the Change Plan Setting - Change the Advanced power settings >> Wireless Adapter >> Power Saving Mode and make sure both On Battery and Plugged in are set to Maximum Performance.

3 - Set the Advanced Settings for the Wireless Adapter - Go to Device Manager >> Network Adapter >> Intel(R) Wireless Adapter right click and select Properties.

4 - Check the value of Transmit Power and make sure it is set to 5. Highest.

5 - Change channels on the router mught help as well: http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/sb/CS-025344.htm Wireless Networking — What Are the Supported Wi-Fi Channels for IEEE* 802.11n 40 MHz?

Thanks. I have also tried the second option, no solution.

On the first option, you say "check your router configurations specially the security features". I'm not sure what to look for?

One thing to note is that my router has worked fine for year and still works flawlessly - with multiple notebooks, ipads, iphones - the notebooks all running Windows 7.

Now with a new Asus Zenbook running Windows 8 - doesn't work, and it also stops the Windows 7 laptops from working. When I switch off the Wifi on the Windows 8 laptop, the Windows 7 one works fine. When I switch on the wifi on the windows 8 laptop (asus) it messes up the network - with non-existent speed and very intermittent connection.

I read somewhere it could be to do with UPnP...

Any advice?

graham726,

Try to contact the router manufacturer first in order to discard any possible configuration issues. Inform them exactly what is going on taking into consideration that the wireless adapter works just fine with other networks as you have previously informed.
