Working environment: Windows 7 sp1 with all updates.

Wireless Card: Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 7260(7260HMW)

Driver: WP-BT_17.1.1409.01_s64 for Bluetooth

Wireless_17.1.0_Ds64/Wireless_17.1.0_s64 for Wireless

Laptop: Dell Precision M6300

Bios: A15 (the latest)

Problem:

1. The wireless function works fine in the first three minutes after (re)start, and then can not connect to any wireless network.

2. I cannot find any sign of Bluetooth device in my Device Manager.

Hi, 0crash0,

Thank you very much for the reply!

I have also installed the wireless card in three other ancient laptops, Dell Precision M4400, Lenovo Thinkpad X61 and T61 under windows 7 SP1. All worked with 150 Mb/s connection, because my router was a 'N' router. Therefore the intel 7260 card could function normally under windows 7. Importantly, the wireless card worked fine after each re-start in Dell Precision M6300, although it only lasted three minutes. I tried to stop all other programs, but it did not change anything.

For bluetooth, I agree with you that the M6300 might not have USB in its m-PCI-E slot.

The chipset in Dell M6300 is Mobile Intel® PM965 Express Chipset. Does Intel 7260 support PM965 Chipset?

Thanks

So, you determined that the wireless adapter is not faulty but it is just a compatibility issue.

Did you check with the system manufacturer about such compatibility?

I think the wireless adapters should be fine. I bought five adapters from tigerdirect. Two of them worded fine on Thinkpad T61 and X61. The rest of them can not work on Dell M6300.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8225049 Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 - Network adapter - PCI Express Half Mini Card - 802.11b, 802.11a, 802.11g, 802.11n, 80…

I did not check with Dell custom service about Dell M6300. However when I installed the 7260 adapter on Dell M4400, it did not work until the newly updated driver came out.
